We have immediate full-time openings for Geotechnical Technicians to serve as the on-site construction quality assurance representative for projects located in the southeastern USA.  The assignments will be performed under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer.  The primary responsibilities generally consist of construction quality assurance monitoring of various environmentally regulated solid waste landfill construction projects.  Responsibilities include monitoring general contractor activities, onsite testing and reporting of earthwork and soil construction as well as geosynthetic base liner, closure cap, piping and gas extraction systems for solid waste landfills.  Daily reports are to be prepared for submission to the project engineer via computer and consist of descriptions of construction site observations, summaries of test results, sketches of site work and photographs.  Company vehicle, mobile field office equipment and allowances for travel living expenses are provided. In-house training and mentorship is provided.

Desired attributes and requirements:

  • Requires extensive travel to job sites for periods of time ranging from 3 to 9 months
  • Proven record of responsible and reliable work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word as well as creating and emailing pdfs and photos.
  • Basic knowledge in the operation of smart phones for communication of verbal and scanned documents by email.
  • Ability to work on construction site as the individual CQA representative or as a part of a small on-site team.
  • Physical abilities required to meet project demands include:
    • Ability to walk on the order of 6 miles per day with portions on slopes of up to 3 horizontal to 1 vertical slopes and carry up to 50 lbs. in buckets for distances up to 50 feet.
    • Ability to work outdoors on construction sites in all seasons for extended time periods and work days of up to 12 hours per day.
    • Ability to drive up to 8 hours for job site mobilizations.
    • Ability to use hand tools and testing apparatuses.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Seeking an Experienced Geotechnical – Environmental Driller for our Greenville office. Drillers experience should include solid & hollow stem auger, mud rotary, SPT sampling, down-hole hammer drilling, rock coring. soil classification, filling out drill logs, performing preventive maintenance on drills, and good communication skills. Must be able to pass a physical with drug screening.

Primary responsibility is to mobilize to job sites across the Upstate of South Carolina to operate Aggressive Fluid Vapor Recovery (AFVR) equipment and record readings from instrumentation.

BUILDING CODE COMPLIANCE INSPECTOR (INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE CHAPTER 1)

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE) has an opening for a Building Code Compliance Inspector to join our team in Greenville, South Carolina. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical code compliance inspections (or often called IBC Chapter 1 Inspections).

Responsibilities:

* Perform inspections for a wide variety of projects including commercial, institutional, industrial and residential buildings.

* Inspections should verify construction conforms to all applicable codes and project plans and specifications.

* The ability to work independently, communicate effectively with contractors and project managers, and maintain professional working relationships with clients and coworkers.

* Interaction with representatives of Office of School Facilities (OSF) and the Office of State Engineer (OSE).

* Produce detailed inspection reports.

Requirements:

* Valid Driver’s License

* Ability to pass pre-employment Drug screen

* 5 years of experience in Code Inspections (desired but not a requirement)

* ICC Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Plumbing Inspector Certifications

* SCLLR Registration (or ability to receive registration based upon ICC certifications)

· Individual will serve as a Senior Engineer within the Construction Materials Testing Department. Specific engineering and project management tasks will include, but not be limited to, oversight of inspections and testing of soils (evaluation of soil bearing capacity and density); reinforced concrete and masonry; modular retaining wall construction, structural steel inspections, evaluation of laboratory data; inspection of shallow and deep foundation installation; and monitoring of asphalt placement.

 

· Individual will have a responsibility for generating fees through management and development of existing and new client relationships. Actively participate in marketing and new client development activities with business developments staff. Maintain existing client relationships and pursue new relationships with potential clients.

 

· Individual will complete project proposals and develop estimated costs and budgets along with other proposal deliverables.

 

· Individual will be responsible for review of project specifications and special inspection requirements on his/her assigned projects and to review daily inspection reports. All reports are to be reviewed, signed, and provided as a deliverable to the client and project distribution in a timely manner.

 

· Willingness to make project site visits to review construction activities, review site inspector activities, develop relationships with contractor and/or owners, and to provide engineering support when required.

 

· Monthly invoicing on assigned projects will be reviewed and approved by Senior Engineer

 

· Help develop, train, and mentor less experienced professional staff and technicians.

 

· Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with clients, coworkers, field staff, and management.

 

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

 

· Minimum of 10 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections consulting, Geotechnical Engineering, and Project Management.

 

· Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

 

· Needs to have current standing as a Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or the ability to obtain PE licensure through reciprocity.

 

· Should have experience in managing multiple on-going projects, scheduling, and evaluation or review of project budgets.

 

· Individual must be able to clearly communicate and work effectively with clients and other department staff.

 

· Would prefer an individual with knowledge of the Upstate development and construction market. area and already has established contacts with potential clients.

 

· Individual must be self-motivated and can able to effectively manage time and work priorities of themselves and field staff.

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE) has an opening for an Engineering Associate in our Construction Services Group at our Greenville, South Carolina office.

 

The position is entry level with opportunity for professional and technical growth and advancement in the firm. Work will be performed under the direction and review of a senior registered professional engineer. The scope of assignments will vary from monitoring and oversight of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing of soils, to on-site monitoring of geotechnical and conventional construction. As well as management of construction materials testing and special inspection activities for new construction projects. A variety of field and office assignments should be expected.

Bachelors of Science degree is required for consideration. E.I.T. registration is preferred and candidate must have the desire to pursue professional registration.
