Title: Construction Materials Testing Technician

Work Location: Greenville, SC

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • The assignments will be performed under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer.
  • The primary responsibilities generally consist of construction quality assurance and quality control at various commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.
  • Monitoring and documenting contractor activities; onsite testing and reporting of earthwork and soil construction; foundation evaluations; monitoring reinforced concrete and masonry construction; and observing asphalt placement.
  • Daily reports are to be prepared for submission to the project engineer/manager and consist of descriptions of construction site observations and summaries of all test results.
  • Company vehicle and all safety equipment are provided.

Desired attributes and requirements: (In-house training and mentorship is provided)

Preferred Experience/Certifications:

  • ACI
  • NICET
  • ICC Certifications (Soils/Reinforced Concrete/Masonry Special Inspector)

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to authorize our review of a motor vehicle driving record for the past 5 years.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work use hand tools and testing apparatuses.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Ability to walk or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors on construction sites in all seasons for extended time periods and work days of up to 12 hours per day.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge in the operation of smart phones and computers for communication and recording time worked.
  • Availability to work ‘construction’ hours; particularly, early hours during larger concrete placements.

Title: Executive Assistant

Work Location: Greenville, SC

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

The individual’s primary responsibility is to provide daily support to the Department Manager and Project Engineers through travel arrangements, scheduling meetings, and clerical support. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Compile and copy engineering reports to be sealed and submitted to the state for projects.
  • Email daily logs and transmittals to Project Engineers and clients and file accordingly.
  • Make hotel reservations and setup apartments for field staff at jobsites across the southeastern USA.
  • Schedule department meetings and administer video conferencing.
  • Work as a collective member of the corporate administration team through phone support, cross training, etc.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Department Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Sharepoint/365 skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Good organization skills
  • Good written and verbal skills

Title: Geotechnical Technician

Work Location: Greenville, SC

Job Type: Full-time

This person will serve as the on-site construction quality assurance representative for projects located in the southeastern USA.

Responsibilities:

  • The assignments will be performed under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer.
  • Construction quality assurance monitoring of various environmentally regulated solid waste landfill construction projects.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring general contractor activities, onsite testing and reporting of earthwork and soil construction as well as geosynthetic base liner, closure cap, piping and gas extraction systems for solid waste landfills.
  • Daily reports are to be prepared for submission to the project engineer via computer and consist of descriptions of construction site observations, summaries of test results, sketches of site work and photographs.
  • Company vehicle, mobile field office equipment and allowances for travel living expenses are provided. In-house training and mentorship is provided.

Requirements:

  • Requires extensive travel to job sites for periods of time ranging from 3 to 9 months
  • Proven record of responsible and reliable work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word as well as creating and emailing pdfs and photos.
  • Basic knowledge in the operation of smart phones for communication of verbal and scanned documents by email.
  • Ability to work on construction site as the individual CQA representative or as a part of a small on-site team.
  • Physical abilities required to meet project demands include:
    • Ability to walk on the order of 6 miles per day with portions on slopes of up to 3 horizontal to 1 vertical slopes and carry up to 50 lbs. in buckets for distances up to 50 feet.
    • Ability to work outdoors on construction sites in all seasons for extended time periods and work days of up to 12 hours per day.
    • Ability to drive up to 8 hours for job site mobilizations.
    • Ability to use hand tools and testing apparatuses.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Title: Geotechnical – Environmental Driller

Work Location: Greenville, SC

Requirements:

  • Experience should include solid & hollow stem auger, mud rotary, SPT sampling, down-hole hammer drilling, rock coring. soil classification, filling out drill logs, performing preventive maintenance on drills, and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a physical with drug screening.

Title: Remediation Technician

Work Location: Greenville, SC

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility is to mobilize to job sites across the Upstate of South Carolina to operate Aggressive Fluid Vapor Recovery (AFVR) equipment and record readings from instrumentation.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record acceptable by our auto insurance carrier

Title: Senior Materials Engineer

Work Location: Greenville, SC

Job Type: Full-time

Individual will serve as a Senior Engineer within the Construction Materials Testing Department. Specific engineering and project management tasks will include, but not be limited to, oversight of inspections and testing of soils (evaluation of soil bearing capacity and density); reinforced concrete and masonry; modular retaining wall construction, structural steel inspections, evaluation of laboratory data; inspection of shallow and deep foundation installation; and monitoring of asphalt placement.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual will have a responsibility for generating fees through management and development of existing and new client relationships. Actively participate in marketing and new client development activities with business developments staff. Maintain existing client relationships and pursue new relationships with potential clients.
  • Individual will complete project proposals and develop estimated costs and budgets along with other proposal deliverables.
  • Individual will be responsible for review of project specifications and special inspection requirements on his/her assigned projects and to review daily inspection reports. All reports are to be reviewed, signed, and provided as a deliverable to the client and project distribution in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to make project site visits to review construction activities, review site inspector activities, develop relationships with contractor and/or owners, and to provide engineering support when required.
  • Monthly invoicing on assigned projects will be reviewed and approved by Senior Engineer
  • Help develop, train, and mentor less experienced professional staff and technicians.
  • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with clients, coworkers, field staff, and management.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections consulting, Geotechnical Engineering, and Project Management.
  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Needs to have current standing as a Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or the ability to obtain PE licensure through reciprocity.
  • Should have experience in managing multiple on-going projects, scheduling, and evaluation or review of project budgets.
  • Individual must be able to clearly communicate and work effectively with clients and other department staff.
  • Would prefer an individual with knowledge of the Upstate development and construction market. area and already has established contacts with potential clients.
  • Individual must be self-motivated and can able to effectively manage time and work priorities of themselves and field staff.

Title: Engineering Associate

Work Location: Greenville, SC

The Engineering Associate will work in our Construction Services Group. The position is entry level with opportunity for professional and technical growth and advancement in the firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Work will be performed under the direction and review of a senior registered professional engineer.
  • Scope of assignments will vary from monitoring and oversight of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing of soils, to on-site monitoring of geotechnical and conventional construction.
  • Management of construction materials testing and special inspection activities for new construction projects.
  • A variety of field and office assignments should be expected.
