Clemson, South Carolina – BLE managed the removal of 28 out-of-service heating oil tanks from a former housing complex. Petroleum contaminated soil from beneath the tanks was evaluated in the field, excavated as needed, and properly disposed of at a permitted waste management facility. Approximately 2,900 tons of petroleum impacted soil was transported offsite for disposal. Confirmatory soil samples were collected post excavation activities and a No Further Action decision regarding the fuel spill was received from the SCDHEC. The property is currently being redeveloped as a $200+ million mixed-use complex.
