Macon, GA – BLE provided geotechnical exploration and analysis for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) on a $55‑million, 6.3‑mile project in south Bibb County. The corridor began at Sardis Church Road—tying into the I‑75/Sardis Church Road Interchange Project—and terminated at the intersection of Avondale Mill Road and SR‑247/US‑129. The work supported construction of five bridges and numerous reinforced‑earth retaining walls.
Operating from BLE’s Greenville, SC office and a temporary Macon, GA office, BLE’s engineers directed day‑to‑day field exploration activities for the subsurface investigation, including soil test borings, collection of disturbed and undisturbed samples, and soil classification. BLE’s Chief Engineer completed data analysis and developed foundation and soil‑structure interaction designs for structures and retaining walls. The work was documented in three deliverables—a Bridge Foundation Investigation, a Wall Foundation Investigation, and a Soil Summary Report—that supported GDOT’s foundation and earthwork design decisions.
