Hendersonville, NC – BLE performed the site observations on the embankment surrounding Fleetwood Plaza. Six slope failures that were triggered by Helene flooding, with varying degrees of severity, were identified and were separated into two levels of severity: slope failures and superficial sloughing.
BLE provided a triage-level evaluation to provide general advice and approaches that can be used to reduce the likelihood of additional deterioration. Those included water management to assist with the short-term conditions for superficial sloughing areas and slope failures and rerouting or diverting all existing drainage pipes to avoid draining onto the slope. The long term repair of the more significant slides involved the implementation of Geobrugg’s Tecco Mesh retention system, as shown in the detail below.
