South Carolina – BLE played a pivotal role in the successful closure of a 1,600-acre former coal-fired power plant, providing comprehensive environmental oversight, resident project representation, and construction quality assurance to ensure the project adhered to the highest safety and environmental responsibility standards.

BLE served as the primary on-site construction quality assurance (CQA) and environmental professional, providing a range of critical construction and environmental services to ensure the safe and compliant closure of the power plant. Our responsibilities included critical oversight of coal ash excavation, asbestos abatement, and engineered fill placement, ensuring these materials were removed in accordance with all appropriate regulations. We assisted in the implementation and executed comprehensive environmental monitoring programs to safeguard air and water quality throughout the project.

Additionally, BLE conducted thorough waste assessments and managed waste streams to minimize environmental impact. Our team also provided specialized support services tailored to the project’s challenges.
