Landrum, SC – BLE performed a subsurface exploration and storm‑damage assessment to support repair design following landslides and debris flows from Hurricane Helene. BLE conducted initial site observations to document damage and define preliminary repair needs, then completed field exploration including soil test borings with rock coring and auger borings along Limestone Trail. A private utility locator was engaged before drilling, and BLE coordinated on site with local utility and contractor representatives when a damaged water main was encountered.
Selected field samples were tested for grain size and Atterberg limits, and boring logs and location drawings were prepared. Based on the field and laboratory data and BLE’s experience on similar sites, BLE developed geotechnical guidance for slope stabilization and provided subsurface information to support storm‑drain improvement recommendations near the Limestone Trail culverts.
BLE delivered a formal data report summarizing the work, findings, and basis of recommendations, and remained available to review scope changes or unexpected subsurface conditions during design or construction.
