Chattahoochee River Bank Stabilization

Phenix City, Alabama – BLE provided geotechnical exploration and slope stability analysis for the design and construction of a 125-foot long by 20-foot tall Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall. The new retaining wall, consisting of Filtrexx Living Wall Gro Soxx facing, was built to stabilize a failed slope located below an existing electrical transmission tower adjacent to the Chattahoochee River.

Exploration of the site included soil test borings with standard penetration tests and a seismic refraction survey to determine the depth of partially weathered rock and bedrock.

Global slope stability analysis of the reinforced slope was performed for the final design.
