Drum Removal & Hazardous Waste Assessment

Simpsonville, South Carolina – During grading activities associated with the development of residential lots, buried 55-gallon drums were discovered. Over the following month, BLE worked closely with government agencies to characterize, excavate, and properly dispose of the drums and their contents as well as evaluate environmental site conditions following the removal of the drums.

BLE was on-site during excavation activities to collect the two additional samples of the semi-solid material, document the total number of drums removed from the excavation, observe drum removal activities for any other visually distinct materials that may have been contained in the drums, and to advise on potentially impacted soils that may need to be excavated and disposed.
